Week (6)
   In this week we have done a presentation of the assignment that we did in the previous class about TRANSACTION PROCESSING SYSTEM (TPS) we explained a little bit bout IS information system, the types of IS and how the (IS) is related to our life in general and as students in specific and we mentioned OPAC as an example of it.

And here I was shocked because our teacher Mr.Azam aldeen said to us that we have a quiz about IS information system. It was confused somehow L but I learnt from it some new information about IS from the quiz.

I was happy a little bit in this week because the class was short and we have a lot of assignments to do and we have to prepare for panel discussion, so we spend the rest of the time in prepare the panel discussion.

 Week (4)(5)

Assalm alikom.
This is the fourth week and we learned in it about IS information system and as we know that information system is the combination of hardware, software, infrastructure and trained personnel organized to facilitate planning, control, coordination and decision making in an organization.

And also we learnt in this class about the component; we have 6 components:
1-    People (the user of the information system; who manage and make the program running..)
2-    Telecommunication (Electronic transmission of signals for communications which enables organizations to carry out their processes and task through effective computer networks).
3-    Software (Consist of computer programs).
4-    Hardware (Consists of computer equipment).
5-    Database (An organized collection of facts and information).
6-    Procedure (Strategies, policies, methods and rules for using computer information system including operation).

And there are main types of information system (IS);
1)      TRANSACTION PROCESSING SYSTEM (TPS)
The transaction processing system (TPS) records the data from everyday operations throughout every division or department in the organization. Each division or department is tied together through the TPS to provide useful information to management levels throughout the company.
2)      DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM (DSS)
It is an organized collection of people, procedures, software, databases and devices used to support problem-specific decision making, it is used when problem is complex.
DSS are used to support unstructured problems that   require human judgment.
3)      EXPERT SUPPORT SYSTEM (ESS)
It is a computer system that emulates the decision-making ability of a human expert.[1] Expert systems are designed to solve complex problems by reasoning about knowledge, like an expert
4)      MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (MIS)
It is an integrated collection of people, procedures, databases and devices that provides managers and decision makers with information to help achieve organizational goals.
It provides the right information to the right person in the right format at the right time.
5)      EXECUTIVE SUPPORT SYSTEM (ESS)
An executive support system helps managers make strategic decisions affecting the entire company. The decisions use internal and external data to give executives the information they need to determine the proper course of action in unstructured situations.

These types are very important especially in using in an organization, as we mentioned before that each on of these types do an important, unique and specific role from the others.
Each type of these systems is used in different level in the organization as we see in the picture dawn.

This week I was happy (^_^) because I learnt new information about IS and the types of IS; who and when use every type, but I think it is confused a little bit especially about the components and types so I will wait next week to ask our teacher Mr.Azam aldeen to ask him about it and I think I need to read more to know about it.

In this week also we took assignment; every group got one topic, they have to explain about it and write example about it. Like my group got (TPS)so we explained about it and we mentioned as an example he OPAC (online public access catalog).

Week (3)
This is the third week,
In this week we study about Information and communications technology (ICT) and we can say that (ICT) is the use of technology in managing and processing information.
And as we can see that every day the ICT involving in our lives more and more,

We are using ICT in every field in our lives
For example in education:

it can help us in many ways like,
-          raise educational quality among
-          Make the education easier than before.
-          expand access in education
And in banking it has many benefits like:
-            Wider networking
-            Cost and time effectiveness
-          Enhanced customer access and awareness

And the most benefit I think is in in Science and Technology because the ICT help us and the scientists to a lot of things they couldn’t do before like research in Labs and doing especially in medical field.
And we study about the IT Infrastructure and it divided into three parts;
1-    IT components (hardware, software, communication and etc)
2-    IT Services.
3-    IT Personnel: is the person that acts as a 'bridge' between IT Components and IT Services is called IT Personnel.
After we study this we make a small presentation about one field or company that how it was working before using ICT comparing with now; using ICT, me and my group choose restaurant and how they were working there before comparing with now and what are the benefits of using ICT in restaurant.
I found this week that the information was confused somehow about IT Infrastructure but I hope that by next classes I will understand more and more

week (1) &(2)
Aslam alikom wa rahmah Alah w’barakatoh.
This is the first class in the second semester.
I hope in this semester I will learn a lot of new things about ICT, the topic was for today is (INTRODUCTION TO INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY)
Here in this class we took the difference between the information and data;
Information: Information is data that is organized and meaningful and it is used for making decisions.

Data:  is raw facts, it can be in the form of numbers, characters, symbols, pictures or even sounds.

And there are qualities of valuable information.
1. Accurate
2. Verifiable
3. Timely
4. Organized
5. Accessible
6. Useful
7. Cost Effective

 And we took about The Economics of Information (In today’s economy, information technology (IT) has fundamentally transformed information availability, changing the economics and business practices in a wide range of industries).
And we start to study about information management.
Actually information management is the collection and management of information from one or more sources and the distribution of that information to one or more audiences.
And we took about some problems that happen with information technology. For example, Poor quality of information, including lack of consistency.

And we studied about (IT) information technology and in brief information technology is: the branch of engineering that deals with the use of computers and telecommunications to retrieve and store and transmit information.
And we learn also about the stage of globalization and we have three stages;
      Globalization 1.0 (from 1492 to 1800)
      Globalization 2.0 (from 1800 to 2000)
      Globalization 3.0 (from 2000 to the present)

This week (1) and (2) I was very happy to come to the new semester and met our lecture Mr. Azam Alden,
I learnt many things that I mention in brief up and I hope day by day I’m learning about information management because it is related to our life, to our routine and it make it more easier then before.
